(象形。甲骨文和金文字形,象山峰并立的形状。“山”是汉字的一个部首。本义:地面上由土石构成的隆起部分)

又如:山斗(“泰山北斗”的缩略。借指卓有成就令人仰慕的人物);山右(指山西省,西在太行山之右);山左(山东的别称)

山墙 [gable wall]。如:山架(把几层木板镶嵌在墙里的架子)

山中。指隐居之处 [hermitage]。如:山谷臣(隐士的自称);山谷之士(隐士);山囚(隐居山野不得志的士人);山巾(山野隐士的便帽)
